Tataki Sushi

This restaurant in San Francisco has been on my list for a wee while. The philosophy at Tataki is to serve sustainable seafood free of contaminants. A very responsible and noble way of thinking. But, how is the food you might ask? Delicious.

8-piece "Mix-it-up" roll (spicy albacore tuna, crab, avocado-citrus sauce) had quite a nice kick to it. 6-piece arctic char and avocado roll was a very normal kind of sushi roll with a not so normal (in my experience at least), salmon-like fish. Finally, some kodai (tai snapper) nigiri. The kodai was the one fish on the menu sourced from NZ, hence I felt some obligation to give it a try. Not pictured is the green tea infused cheesecake for dessert. Kinda small but quite yummy. Very subtle green tea flavour and complemented nicely by some strawberries and a sweet, black bean (yes, just the singular bean).

An overall tasty meal and potentially a replacement for the defunct Red Box Sushi as my favourite sushi place in SF (and thankfully it isn't located in the Tenderloin). I'd definitely recommend giving it a try for the good sushi as well as the environmental responsibility. No reservations and be prepared to wait.
